I’m back in the states.  Good to be home, real good.  Trip was wonderful, though.  I love Roma and I definitely want to go back some day.  It’s crazy how far back their history goes.  Back before Christ.  Wild.  Sitting here in my parents family room, it’s hard to believe that yesterday I was half a world away almost.  We went to the Vatican yesterday, and saw some amazing stuff.  Also went to the catacombs and the Colloseum.  The colloseum was awesome.  We went in the evening, and at dark, the lights shining on it are awesome.  Took sooo many pictures.

Had the most amazing meal tonight.  My mom is an awesome cook, but considering that my diet for the last 2 plus weeks consisted of mostly pizza and gelato’s, anything she made would have been great.  I think  I probably won’t be eating pizza for awhile.  Actually, the last three meals in Italy were from Mcdonalds.  We were so sick of pizza, that Mcdonalds was a treasure.

I’m about to crash.  It’s 2:30 in Italy.  SIGHHHHH

It is 11 o clock on Sunday night and I am dead tired.  Crazy day.  Friday we  went to a beach near sorrento and all fried ourselves.  Not a pleasant experience.  Then saturday we took a cruise down the coast to another nearby town.  It was not a particularly pleasant day due to burnt conditions, but we made it through.

Now, onto today.  We left sorrento early and then went to pompei to see the ruins from  a 79 volcanoe.  Then we headed to Roma.  Wow, that is all I can say.  Took us forever to get here.  We had to catch a bus and take it to another station due to the WWII bomb that they are still dealing with.  We got a free bottle of water out of the deal which is priceless.  You pay for every drop of water you get around here, unless you request tap water and even then they sometimes cannot give it to you.  crazy.  So we finally arrived in roma, got our motel room, and then caught the metro, or subway as americans would say, and went to see some sights around town.  Beautiful fountains and the spanish steps.  Then, when we decided to catch the metro back to our hotel at ten, we learned that the metro closed at nine thirty.  Great.  So why couldnt the ticket lady tell us that.  So we went to a bus stop and the first bus that came looked like it might head to terminal station, so we proceeded to the door and asked some gentlemen that were on board.  They said yes and urged us to get on the already over crowded bus.  And by crowded, I am talking standing so close that Marie didnt even have to hang on to the bar, cause their was no way she was moving.  We found it humourous for some reason and laughed our heads off.  The one gentleman joined in our laughter, but I think every one else was thinking, please.  Stupid americans.  So we finally arrived at terminal station, after about five or ten minutes on the crowded bus.

Mom, are you coming along to the airport.  We arrive at 3  on U S Airways.  We will have customs, so it might take a bit of time.  Oh, and another thing.  Have plenty of milk on hand.  I drank a glass of milk one time in the last 16 days.  Craving it like crazy.  And cook anything but pizza and I should be happy.  Later.

I think that I almost lost track of the days.  But if I am not totally confused, today is Thursday and it is 11:20 a.m.   We are at the Island of Capri.  Yea, I think Paul was here on one of his missionary journeys.  It is wild to think that I am on the same island he would have walked like 2000 years ago.  We are currently waiting on a cable car to take us up the mountain, so I found a little newstand that had expensive internet.  I decided to just pay, cause we are staying in Sorrento the next two nights with no internet access.  I can”t even remember what all happened since I last posted.  Lets see Monday was Venice. . .   Oh, yea, I remember.  Mon. night we went to Florence and stayed their two nights.  I can”t for the life of me rember what we did Tuesday, but I know we took a train some where.  To a cute little town, I believe.  And then yesterday we left florence and took a train which normally takes 4 hours to Naples.  It ended up taking us 7 hours.  When we arrived at Naples, we found out from some fellow american travelors, that a bomb from WWII was found under the tracks between Rome and Naples, along the coast, so all the trains had to be diverted.  The information people had told us before we boarded that it would be 3 extra hours, but they didnt give an explanation, other then the tracks are bad.  So we spent most the day on the train.  In Naples, we ran into some ultra helpful people, who we could not understand.  Were so frustrated because the one guy insisted on carrying my suitcase and I figured he wanted money for it so I refused.  He tried to get Jolynns and MJs too.  Then when we were purchasing our train tickets to head to Sorrento, we met another guy who was trying to help Marie with her lack of coin situation.  She didnt get it and not realizing that he understood english, said, “what is with all these weird people”.  He apologized profusely and said prego, prego.  I laughed my head off when we got away from them.  Anyways, we arrived at the beautiful town of Sorrento around 9:15 or so, got a motel room that doesnt have the best accomodations, but a beautiful terrace/balcony overlooking the mediteranean sea.  dont know what else to say, catch up with you all lata.

Its 10:00 on Monday night.  (just like to let you all know the exact time and all).  And man do I have things to write about.  On Friday we went to Dachau Concentration camp.  Sorta a depressing day.  Then Saturday and Sunday we were in Salzburg Germany.  Went on a sound of Music tour which was way awesome.  Actually Sunday we went to Halstadt, a town near Salzburg.  Then Sunday night we caught a night train to Venice Italy.  Not a night I would wish to repeat again for various reasons.  #1  being packed in a six seat room with a smoking man and his wife does not make for pleasant sleeping conditions.  I slept solid (when I slept, which was very broken up), but I always woke up feeling rather contorted.  We had a lay-over from about 10:30 to 12:19, and were not traveling long on the second train (the one with the smoking man) when our train came lurching and screeching to a stop.  We sat for a while and it didnt really seem like we were at a station, but I fell asleep anyways.  Only to wake about about an hour and a half later to Marie saying, “that is terrrible, that is just terrible.”  We were still sitting at the spot we stopped at when I had first fallen asleep, and the smoking man had just asked someone out the window what the matter was.  Apparantly a women did not make it across the tracks and we hit her.  She was not alive.  I then realized that our whole train car was completely dark.  They apparently turned off the electricity so know one would try to get off the train.  I went out into the hall and stuck my head out the window, and thats when I realized that this was no joke.  A group of fireman were walking along the cars and shining flashlights underneath.  I guesss looking for her.  Kinda gave me a bad feeling in my stomache.  So after about a two hour delay, we headed on our way to Venice.  Would love to go into more detail, but its costing me this time.  We spent the day in Venice then caught a train to Florence.  We will spend two nights here.  All right, must go.
